Earth Week/Day to promote awareness
Wind, solar or child-powered energy – maybe a child powered playground
Chemical/toxic audit of school
Energy audit of school – calculate our carbon footprint
Build links with outside specialists, students at other schools; organise guest speakers; talks, workshops,
exchanges, action days
Build environmentally sensitive Year 7/8 classrooms – natural paints, flooring, locally sourced material and
furniture
Improve Saqqara Girls garden area
Set up climate zones within school grounds – rainforest, ice, desert, plastic bottle
greenhouse, etc
Litter pick/clean up campaign outside the school or in local area.
Encouraging initiative for car sharing.
Issue and submission of homework via Fronter to save paper.
Garbage separation – send our wet waste to a good home
Development of more environmental themes in our curriculum
Weather station linked to school website
Installing fans and encouraging their use rather than AC

“Take stock” classes make lists of what is thrown out in a day/week. Do a before and after
