GENERAL INFORMATION

Maadi British International School was established in 1995. Originally named Maadi British School, it has grown rapidly from a beginning enrollment of 6 pupils in 1985 to over 380 students today. In 1995, the school was registered with the Egyptian Ministry of Social Affairs as a non-profit entity with a charter "to educate foreign children in Egypt". With this charter in mind, the school was renamed the Maadi British International School. The Primary School was established in New Maadi with the Nursery building in old Maadi.

In September 2004 the school relocated to purpose built premises in Maadi, a mere 10 minutes from the old primary site. MBIS has a deserved reputation for the highest academic standards and a caring and inclusive approach to education. This is now combined with an excellent facilities including, spacious classrooms, an indoor 25m Swimming Pool, Multi-Purpose Hall and Theatre, 2 Computer Suites, well stocked Library, Food Technology Room, Creative Zone, Science Discovery Room, Early Years Centre and large well equipped external play facilities. MBIS is accredited by the Worldwide Education Service (WES) and is a full member of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS).

The Early Years Centre, which enrolls pupils from 2 to 4 years of age, places a strong focus on learning through play.

At the Primary School (ages 4 to 11 years), the atmosphere is purposeful orderly, caring, happy and hard working, with high expectations resulting in successful learning throughout the school. All pupils are valued as individuals. Confidence and self-esteem, which are essential for success, are actively fostered. Our aspiration to nurture a life-long love of learning is summed up in our motto “ Learning for Life”.
