Primary School - EYFS (Foundation & Reception)

Laying the best foundations to learning…

Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) includes children in our Foundation Class (3-4 years) and Reception Class (4-5 years).

At Maadi British International School, our children in Foundation and Reception follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum for England. It promotes play-based exploratory learning that gives children the opportunity to develop the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life. Our Early Years Centre is at the cutting edge of EYFS pedagogy through a teaching method called In the Moment Planning. This method of teaching acts as an excellent tool to focus on each child's individual interests every day. It creates a fun and relaxed way which allows each child to make progress in areas that are relevant and of interest to them. It is truly child led and leads to prolonged engagement in activities, which in turn leads to accelerated learning. This carefully structured teaching for learning provides strong connections between the Early Years Foundation Stage and the first years of Primary education, facilitating a smooth transition for all children.

Early Years Foundation Stage

To facilitate the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we provide a welcoming, positive, supportive and stimulating learning environment: one where children feel secure and confident, eagerly undertake new learning experiences and realise their full potential. Furthermore, we recognise the fact that children develop at different rates and have different talents and aptitudes. We therefore run a flexible programme intended to cater for the needs, preferred learning styles and rates of development of all of the children in our care. Teachers and parents meet regularly. This is to discuss progress in class but also to allows the teacher to find out what has been interesting the child at home. This knowledge allows for learning to be facilitated for the child in the classroom.
